Flashlights are a great tool to use to help keep children in their beds! They can help younger children to overcome their fear of the dark, because the light is right there in their grasp. Older children may be allowed to keep a book or two out that they can take to bed with them to read. If you get out of bed, you have lost the privilege to look at the books with your special light. For that special guy who jumps out of bed to say “but I just have one more thing to tell you . . . .”--you can substitute a sleep journal for books. You can write (or draw) what you’d like to share with mom and dad in the morning. Then it will not be forgotten!
